Texas Pandaa indulge in a musical milieu that is far too seldom explored: that seemingly improbable meeting of shoegaze, mumblecore, and a bit of country twang. Fans of Pasteboard, Japancakes, Hum, and Galaxie 500 will know exactly what wonders can be found in such a sound. Texas Pandaa take it further with woozy soundscapes pierced by swirly violins and slide guitar. Although Texas Pandaa have not actively made new music since their third album, they leave behind a discography that both the Midwest nugaze revival and current practitioners both try to emulate: a dreamy trip punctuated by a strong, nostalgic melody.
